As we fully transition to Distance Learning this school year, I know my students will be up against a lot of odds. Aside from the challenge it is for everyone to stay engaged and focused virtually, my students face particular challenges common in low-income communities (increased home distractions, unreliable access to wifi or technology, fewer academic resources, etc.). As an educator, I am committed to the fight to provide my students with an equitable education. The Wacom Tablet is a tool that will allow me to provide better support to my students, as they're able to see me model live writing instruction and annotations--skills that are critical to their overall literacy development. This tool will allow me to effectively write on an online whiteboard during class discussions or writing lessons, guide my students through close reading practices as they see me make live annotations on our online text, and even model academic note taking to help them prepare for college. Overall, it will have a tremendous positive impact on the quality of instruction and the maximizing of our class time. My students deserve the best education possible, and with the help of your generosity, I can make sure they have the classroom experience they would have had pre-COVID!
