About my class

Many of my students lack self-confidence and never participate from fear of failure. They will use these tablets to work in pairs, so that will remove the fear of failing in front of the class. Working with a partner allows them to learn cooperation, teamwork, and socialization, which are valuable skills in the job market, and in life. The students will access a program from MIT that is available to educators. They will learn the basics of coding as they work through each unit, watching their code run on the Android tablet. The practice in the units build coding skills, and build a project as the students work together. When finished, the students have built a game app that will run on the tablet! They will be so inspired to realize they can create this by themselves! Building their coding skills will also build their confidence. Using these tablets to learn coding and teamwork will teach them life skills they can transfer into employment one day. These tablets will fulfill one third of a classroom set for my students.
