Our students have been lacking proper art instruction due to a lack of teacher to student ratio and art materials. Therefore, many of them have never experimented with some of the basic 2-D materials such as charcoal or printmaking! With our newest staff, including myself, this will be the first year they will get to experience art like never before. Even while having virtual classes, these sixth graders will get the chance to get their hands dirty using traditional art materials that they otherwise would not have at home. Having these materials will allow us to create individual art kits for students to take home and explore the world of 2-D for the very first time. Students will get to learn value through the subtractive method using charcoal and dive into the world of design by creating prints of different Talavera patterns.
