My 5th grade students will begin our year in distance learning this fall. One of the best ways to develop community and impact student learning is through reading and discussing great literature. We will be doing daily readings from these award-winning books; Maniac Magee, The Great Gilly Hopkins and I survived the American Revolution 1776. Allowing each student to have their own book in hand while we read is important to the discussion and their learning. The books, stylus and earbuds will be used by students to maximize and enhance their distance learning experience. Students will use the stylus when we create iPad projects in iMovie, Clips, and other programs or do math, writing, or drawing at home.The ear buds are necessary for those students that have younger siblings or distractions at home so they can listen and focus easily. Providing books and these technology utensils will help my students be prepared to begin their distance learning experience in 5th grade.
