Flexible seating allows students to customize their learning. The stools and cushions will be available around the room. The wobble stools will live at our small group table where students will be able to use them during small group or independent work time. The cushions can be used on the floor or placed in a chair at their desks. The stackable stools can be used in place of a chair at their desks or when working in small groups out in the hallway or around the room. This gives students options they can use to maximize their learning. Many students need to move their bodies in order to activate and focus their minds. These stools and cushions will also allow students to move while they learn, either at their seats, our small group table, or on the floor. This movement helps many students to get their wiggles out which, in turn, allows their brain to focus on the learning happening in the classroom rather than the body's desire to move.
