In order to create community in our classroom, we need books that celebrate and promote difference. The books selected in this project include stories of individuals who come from several different backgrounds and cultures. In order to be the next generation of leaders, my students will learn to understand why differences are unique among the human race and why they are important. The classroom items listed in this project are resources needed to support daily student learning. As a first-year teacher, I will need a classroom set of dictionaries, maps, and other materials for my classroom space (pencil sharpener, timer, wipes). These items will serve as tools students will use during literacy, writing, and social studies instruction. With times being different and uncertain as it relates to COVID-19, some of the items in this project will be used to provide a set of school supplies for all of my students. Each student will have their own set of supplies that will initially be used in school and can be taken home for distance learning. We thank you for considering and donating to our project.
