With access to a Google Chromebook, my students will be able to take advantage of many resources available to the students in our district. Our students have access to several online programs, such as Study Island, IXL, and Myon. With so many students in our school, our students only have one computer lab session a week. This computer lab time is only forty-five minutes, which makes it impossible to use each of these programs as we should in order for it to be helpful for our students. Study Island and IXL are programs that are aligned directly with our students' strengths and weaknesses. After completing MAP testing at our school the scores from that are linked to these programs to create an individualized program for each student to help them accomplish growth in the areas that they are weak in and push them even higher in the areas they already excel in. With Chromebooks in the classroom, we could make sure that students are getting more access to these programs to help them reach their full potential. Myon is also an amazing program that allows our students access to thousands of books on their level and that they are interested in. This program also has the capability to read the books to the child, so all ability levels can enjoy reading on this program. Also, with distance learning, not all of my students have access to technology for us to interact with them to make sure they are getting the highest quality education, with touchscreen Chromebooks we would be putting technology into their hands and the ability to be successful during these unprecedented times.
