These books will continue to enhance the diverse classroom that I strive to create. My classroom library is a place that my students really enjoy. This year they have found their love of reading. I read on the carpet to them every morning, they complete work in the library and calm corners, and they read independently at every chance! Every student book that is placed in my library is treated with love and care, they love opening a book and finding characters that reflect themselves. All of these books have been chosen with my students in mind. I have also requested book sets which will allow for more book clubs throughout my class with books they have requested. My students are more engaged in their work and less disruptive of their peers when they are given a choice of where and how they would like to work. Not only have a requested books to reflect my diverse classroom, but I have requested additional seating options and materials that would help with the diverse needs in my class. Some of the items will give students additional seating options, this in turn will lead to making more effective learning choices. The bouncy bands will be on every students' chair, these will be extremely beneficial for some students that just need to get the wiggles out. The comfy floor seats will allow for additional comfortable floor seating options. The whiteboards will allow the class to move onto the carpet together and work collaboratively in math and share their thought process! I have seen how choice can positively affect my students work and demeanor and hope that the additional options of seating and book selection will help us grow even more!
