This year, I have been asked to teach math and literature. I would like to teach the book Hidden Figures, and then compare and contrast the movie, which meets state standards. I think this is a great opportunity to cross-over math and literature, something that is not integrated very often. What makes this story more relatable is that it is based on true events. We can actually dive into the background of the characters and compare their traits to ours. What traits do they have that make them great mathematicians? What traits do we have that make us great?

About my class
