Studies show that student learning in each classroom maintained or improved when the arts were integrated across the curriculum. According to our student survey, many students noted an increase in their critical thinking skills and explained that the arts helped them to display their knowledge and creativity. This way of learning engages students by offering them many ways to gain understanding and expressing their knowledge. Students will use the charcoals and pastels to show depth in their drawings to demonstrate their knowledge of the story. The oils will be used to draw self portraits and connect them to poetry.
