Beginning readers need up to twenty exposures to a new letter sound to reach mastery. Children learning English as a second language need even more. When those exposures are multi-sensory students form deeper connections. High quality, repeated experiences manipulating sounds are crucial to building a solid foundation for reading, especially for English Language Learners! After a year of online learning, these hands-on phonics materials will give my students the multisensory work with letters that they need to form strong connections between sounds and letters. These materials will provide multiple activities with rich visuals, letters they can hold and move, as well as different levels of difficulty to help meet the needs of all of my students.
