Within my General Horticulture class, we focus heavily on hands-on learning. We currently are waiting for our plants to arrive, but need a potting medium to help the students be able to grow not only their minds but the plants that they get to be in charge of. I will teach lessons over germination, plant cycles, growing media, pest management, and many more. Students will be able to describe the components of different types of growing media, as well as choose the proper type of growing media for varying growing situations. Students will also be able to classify the types of soils and explain techniques for improving the soil.
