These books will help me grow my read aloud library for my elementary school music classes, especially for my younger students! They absolutely love to read, and love being read to! The books I've selected are books that focus on diversity in music, and range from "Little Melba and Her Big Trombone" by Katheryn Russell-Brown to "Ada's Violin" by Susan Hood (one in English, and one in Spanish!). Being able to share this literature with them will help me teach them about famous musicians, instruments, and even to explore sounds in the world around them. I am so excited to give my students even more opportunities to see themselves not only in the books that they are read, but also in music as a whole. Starting their lifelong journey in music by reading these selections will not only show them that music and literature are connected, but even more importantly, that music is for everyone!
