All of my students have learning disabilities and/or emotional/behavioral disabilities and many have short attention spans, therefore, it is difficult for them to sit for a long period of time without taking a break. Our classroom has a variety of hands-on materials that students can choose from when we take a break from learning. The cardboard shelves I purchased many years ago are falling apart and are duct taped together. By donating to our project the students could have an awesome storage unit to hold their exploring materials when they take a much deserved break! My students are noticeably more engaged in their work and less disruptive when they have something to look forward to playing with. This durable wooden shelf with bins would be ideal to place the exploration materials in! This wooden shelf would hold up over time and would be much better than the crumbling cardboard unit.
