A majority of classroom teaching is done in a traditional manner, but for some students, traditional teaching isn't successful. My project will allow for alternative learning through constructive play. Constructive play is goal-oriented and thoughtful games chosen by the teacher to teach a specific skill. Students will learn a wide range of academic, social and emotional skills through playing board games. We may play Monopoly in math class to reinforce money skill and at the same time practice verbal communication skills, taking turns, following directions, sportsmanship, and other important life skills. Playing games in the classroom open learning to all students.
