In equipping my (now virtual) classroom with morning meeting essentials, such as the easel and All About Today pocket chart, my students and I will be able to come together as a class family and start our day off strong. Additionally, having culturally responsive texts and other classic children's literature titles, allows for interdisciplinary lessons to take place. In having access to these titles, we are able to focus on more than one subject area at a time and begin to have conversations about the similarities and differences among us. My students will also begin establishing print concepts and identifying key details of a text, which are crucial in early literacy development. I will be able to build on these academic achievements and developmental milestones with the interactive storying telling materials, and morning meeting essentials included.
