My class is an Autism class. They are easily distracted and can be disruptive to the teachers and students in class. We try to give them a positive outlet for breaks, keeping them in a calm environment if they are overly stimulated and giving them a space for an active outlet when they are needing to let off some steam. We give them a variety of ways to help stay on task and cope with day-to-day tasks. Slowly swaying back and forth? As humans, we often feel the need to move in order to focus! The magnetic blocks will develop the interest of my students in learning STEM lessons and projects, and sensory tiles will help my students to be in a safe and healthy learning space. Studies show that various types of movement are good for brain development and crucial to students' learning. The bean bag would be available for the students to use when they need a break from the classroom. If the students did not want to sit in a bean bag chair, they would be able to sit on the rug and relax. With this new printer, my students will be able to access picture-enriched reading materials and other long-lasting materials that they can use. They will also boost up their interest in learning. My students already have shown an astonishing interest in reading, and this project will only help enrich their experiences with the printed word. C.RL.3.1 Ask and answer who, what, where, and when questions to demonstrate understanding of a literary text. C.RL.3.3 Describe characters in a story (e.g., their traits or feelings). C.W.3.2 Write informative/ explanatory texts to examine a topic and convey ideas.
