Although I have been teaching for a decade, most of the play materials in my classroom are hand me downs from friends and family, things I've inherited from other teachers, or garage sale finds. As a result, many of these materials are worse for the wear and not plentiful enough to appeal to all students interests. The blocks, trains, manga tiles, dress up costumes, and animal toys requested will capture student's imaginations, appeal to their unique and varied interests, and encourage them to play creatively and cooperatively. Every day, my students will have the opportunity to engage in self-selected and self directed cooperative play. The materials requested will help ensure that each play center is filled with interesting, engaging, high quality materials. After the past year of distancing and interrupted learning, these materials will bring children together to learn and grow through play.
