As a school-based occupational therapist, I strive to provide resources and support focused on skill development within the educational setting. The focus of my project is to provide resources to students on my caseload that are currently working towards developing fine motor, visual motor integration and sensory motor skills. I will be creating individual task boxes for several of the students on my caseload. Due to the current pandemic, not all resources can be shared between students. By creating individual boxes students will continue to have the necessary resources needed to work towards developing appropriate skills. The main goal of this project is to provide fun and interactive activities to promote fine motor and visual motor skills needed to complete functional handwriting tasks, cutting activities and self-help skills within the school environment. By providing these resources, students will have the opportunity to utilize various resources to improve grip strength, bilateral coordination, pincer grasp and work towards a functional tripod grasp. Also, due to providing individual resources students will have the ability to utilize these resources at home if there is a shift to distance learning.
