Our students need relevant and current books to encourage them to be avid readers. They gain insight into the author's craft and how to keep a reader engaged that transfers to their writing. Our students also benefit from having a copy of their own book to hold as we read together. It helps keep them focused and engaged. When I build my classroom library, I can ensure that students always have access to diverse and meaningful literature to partner read and find examples of writing craft. We read together often to model fluent reading and prosody. Students love having a book they can hold. My goal is to help them find reading engaging and turn them into life-long readers.

About my class
