My students come from all walks of life and are embedded in a home culture that should be valued and celebrated. The primary goal for this grant is to utilize the materials to help connect and celebrate with families the value of diversity. Children’s books are a great way to highlight how to think about and discuss these big topics with little ones. Finding the right kinds of literature can open our minds and hearts to new ways of thinking as well as to build on things that work. This Pandemic situation and our so-called new normal gives us a huge opportunity to connect with families, create community, and share a learning vision for our youngest learners.
