My junior high students need art resources to develop their creative abilities! Creative thinkers are going to be the designers, the problem-solvers, and the innovators of the future! Unfortunately, due to the budget deficits currently facing our district, the budget for student art supplies for this school year has been slashed in half! This reduced budget comes at a difficult time, when students can no longer share supplies and may be forced to work from home using distance learning. With the risks associated with Covid-19, I am trying to plan for our students to have individual art kits to use. Students who attend our middle school are representative of the multifaceted needs of California's learners. They hail from a diverse range of economic, social, and cultural backgrounds. Despite their differences, each student shares the same basic need each day: to be respected as an individual, challenged academically, and held to high standards. My Project Many of my junior high students develop confidence in the visual arts through skill building and daily practice. When the pandemic hit our school, I quickly learned that many of my students had little or no art supplies available at home. By providing each student with a sketchbook, they will have a central place to practice daily drawing prompts, develop their ideas, and build a record of their growth as an artist. Since my students can no longer share supplies and the art supply budget has been greatly reduced, your donation will go a long way to support arts education.
