Of Mice and Men is a classic piece of literature that everyone should read, but some may not due to budget cuts in our classrooms. This novel follows the pursuit of the American dream and contains universal themes such as isolation, loneliness, belonging, and hope--themes students can specifically relate to at this point in time. I will use this novel to analyze author's style, elicit discussion, and explore the development of theme. I also want to explore the modernism era and how history inspires and shapes authors' opinions and craft.
