"Nine days ago, the Mondelo family car went over the side of Backbone Mountain and caught fire on impact. Three bodies were found in the wreckage; an adult woman, a teenage male, and a female child. All were burned beyond recognition." This starts a series of linked laboratory investigations to try to solve the murders and investigate the accident using a variety of different lab techniques. Using provided materials and interactive laboratory activities, students are able to simulate real forensic investigations into a complex, well-written murder mystery. The activities scaffold and include great teacher resources to lead students through solving the mystery.
