The Lord of the Flies is a classic novel which will interest most middle school students encouraging them to read independently. It addresses many social issues which are great for discussion. Studies show that the more a student reads, the better their scores are overall. My plan is to use this novel as outside reading with the students using Google Classroom to complete quizzes and blog about what they're reading. Not only will students be exposed to a great piece of literature, they will also be incorporating technology into their lessons by responding to each other in a blog. Students will love reading this novel so keeping their interest and participation will be easy.
