I am currently teaching children with Autism from Kinder through second grade. The books will help them be motivated to read, write and follow along with story reading activities. We have amazing readers, writers and painters in our class. I have been using reinforcers like toys and play time for the kids to play during their short break since they have very short attention span and these kids needed break in between activities when working with Reading, Writing, Math and Asynchronous activities on their computers and they get prizes at the end of the day for listening, following directions and staying on task. We use white boards and dry erasers during whole group lessons, I have them illustrate pictures, spell words or write their answers on addition, subtraction and number identification. Our kids are cleaning their own area everyday after use and we need more cleaning materials to keep our classroom clean, safe and away from viruses. Every Fridays, I have my kids work on painting and craft activities depending on the theme (e.g. December - Christmas arts and crafts). On Fridays, I let them play ball games and outdoor activities like camping, soccer, basketball etc. Most of the time, I use money out of my pocket to buy these materials just to keep my Special Education students engaged, motivated, enjoy, and love to come to school everyday to learn academics, proper socialization and communication. We believe that these kids will appreciate, use and cherish these resources with care and love.
