I digital camera in the classroom will be very useful to my students with special needs. The biggest thing the camera will help my students with is the use of real pictures. For example, some of my students can not recognize their written name to sign in, locate their cubby, or find materials in the classroom. Using the digital camera, I can take a picture of the student, print it out and place it on their cubby/desk/materials and they will be able to easily recognize and find their belongings. We will also utilize the digital camera for taking "real-life" pictures for our picture schedule. For example, instead of seeing a random playground to show "gym" on the schedule, my students will be able to see a picture of our actual gym teacher on the court at our school. In addition to real life pictures, many of the students in my classroom are non-verbal and use pictures to communicate. The digital camera will make is fast and easy to create communication boards for my students. In addition to using the digital camera for real life pictures and labeling around the classroom. I will be able to use the camera to take pictures of my students when they are learning, creating, playing, and loving with one another. I then can make a class scrapbook, individual picture flip book for students and print out pictures for them to take home and show their family.
