We cook together at least once a week. With Covid this year we have to use disposable plates and utensils. We also have a snack store where the students can buy snacks with the class money they earn. The students enjoy learning how to cook in the classroom. Most of them have never used a stove or microwave. Eventually I would like to use real dishes but we are only allowed to use disposable this year. The students earn tickets throughout the day by answering questions and participating in class. At the end of the day, the students can use the tickets that they have earned to buy snacks from the class store. They take turns being the cashier. This helps their math skills and budgeting.
