As a newer teacher, it is my goal to provide my learners with a library that can take them into both new and familiar worlds. Worlds that will show them that every inch of them belongs here and worlds that will help them create a welcoming place for others. While in distance learning, students will vote on the book for me to read aloud, and from it I hope to have deep and meaningful conversations even though we can't be together in the classroom. Working in a Title 1 school means that many of my students don't have the ability to travel and see new cultures, so it is my responsibility to show them how they can travel through reading and that there is so much more to this world then the small town in which they are living.
