Dear Martin will replace To Kill A Mockingbird as an anchor text as we look at how people treat others and why, racism, and how high school age students can make a difference in their communities. Students will be writing to examine their beliefs and thoughts about the situations in the book, actual events that have happened recently and in the past, and create a project to apply lessons learned that can be completed in school or in the community. Having this class set of Dear Martin will help us look at real life through books.
