I do not need time to decide how to use the materials and supplies I am requesting. As we explore the world of ELA through a virtual learning format, I want my Scholars to have a similar learning environment at home as they would have in the traditional classroom. Thus, the materials I am requesting will be sorted and grouped into learning supply packages that will be distributed to all 60 of my students. As TEXT DETECTIVES, we take adventures through language, reading, and writing to learn about the world around us and about ourselves. We do this through inquiry and a call and response process that builds critical thinking, language, writing, and comprehension skills. By donating to our project, you will be providing Scholars with an opportunity to take ownership of their learning by staying engaged, focused, and inspired through fun activities. The colored craft sticks, index cards, Astrobrights colored paper, white boards, and dry erase markers will allow my amazing Scholars to take control of their learning. More importantly, these packages will help alleviate the pressures on families to provide these materials and supplies. Additionally, I will be able to preserve the life of many of the handouts distributed by laminating them. Scholars will be able to use laminated handouts to mark up documents as we learn and explore together. Finally, the composition notebooks will serve as the Scholars' daily ELA journal. Scholars will record their thoughts, ideas, feelings, and lessons learned. Scholars will also use the notebooks to reinforce learning through various interactive activities. Finally, Scholars will be incentivized along the way. The affirmation medallions will be distributed to Scholars to encourage, motivate, and inspire them. With your generous support, Scholars will have what they need in their homes to excel.
