These sensory materials will provide activities in sensory integration to support the students with sensory processing. These students experience too much or too little stimulation through their senses and have trouble integrating the information they’re getting. As a result, it’s difficult, if not impossible, for them to feel comfortable and secure, function effectively, and be open to learning and socialization. These sensory materials will allow them the benefit of building their social skills as they work alongside their peers. Adding these materials to the “sensory corner” will continue to provide stimulation to the under-responsive student, sensory input for the sensory seeking student, and a safe place for the sensory defensive child. Having a safe space that can help each student deal with sensory processing issues is always an important step in helping the student grow and develop independence.
