These materials are really versatile and will last for several years. With pH probes, my students will observe the pH of various common household chemicals. They can see that just because something is acidic/basic does not necessarily mean it is good/bad (and just because something is neutral does not mean it is not a household poison!). My AP students will take it one step further and investigate the pH of beverages and attempt to change the pH through various chemical and physical means. Temperature probes can come in handy for so many things. Calorimetry will be the first major application, but they are also great for monitoring phase changes, chemical reactions, and wildlife conditions in local bodies of water. Finally, the balance will replace a broken one at the school and will allow more students to work simultaneously to take measurements for a HUGE variety of labs and activities.
