The books that I have requested present people from different races working, playing, eating and existing together. The books celebrate joy, depict diverse holidays and traditions, and display kids being kids. “Shared reading provides many benefits for young learners as they develop early literacy skills… Pictures can help the children get a better understanding of what is happening in the story and the meaning of the words being read.” National Early Literacy Panel I want to help my students understand that what makes them different is beautiful by them seeing themselves in the different books.
