Students are adaptive learners who thrive in learning environments that constantly provide new opportunities to apply their knowledge to new situations, materials, and challenges. Providing students with differentiated instructional models and tools allows them to take ownership of their success by having the opportunity to show others what they have learned and now know. Empowering students with physical representations of mathematical equations not only creates a more productive learning environment, but offers student choice and accountability. In my classroom, the Dry Erase XY Graph Lap Boards and Dry Erase Markers will be used by the teacher to model approach material use, visually introduce larger concepts to small and large groups, And indivisible practice. The ability to provide one on one materials, even as simple as a Dry Erase Marker, empowers students to take a leap and attempt a new skill, or participate in a new activity since the barrier of “not enough” materials is no longer present. These materials will also be checked out by individual students who may need small group environments or one on one instruction either in a support group or while learning at home, where otherwise, these materials would be scarce. The Magnetic Algebra Tiles when used apart or in conjunction with the Dry Erase Boards and Markers creates a movable learning space for each student. Thanks to the creation of Geo Model Folding Shapes, students can manipulate shapes into spheres, allowing them to experience the creation and use of a three dimensional shape that can only lie flat and unanimated in their textbooks. Last, the Set of 200, Two Color Counters will provide students with an easily accessible and incredibly versatile math calculation tool during class.
