I'm going into my 9th year of teaching. However, I am going into a whole new grade level, 4th grade! I've taught kinder, 1st, and 4th (for one year). But I am making it official to not move around anymore. I am a proud-bilingual teacher and teach content in both English and Spanish. Therefore, my students need books that are engaging, at their level, new, and in both languages. Nowadays, kids need relevant topics in order to be kept engaged. I proofread this list with my 10 year old niece, whom told me what's hot in reading, along with doing some research myself. Finding books in Spanish is twice as hard. My students will be able to profit tenfold from receiving these books, because low-income students hardly have access to books. "Ensuring that books are available to any child at any time of the year will be a good first step in enhancing the reading achievement of low-income students and an absolutely necessary step in closing the reading achievement gap." -McGill & Allington My goal for my students is for them to read (individually) at least 15 books this year! Please, please help provide these books for my kiddos! Thank you in advance!
