Like many schools across the nation, we had to shutter our doors last March with little notice. At the time we had over 300 library books checked out to students which are now considered lost. We are not holding students responsible for any lost book fines as this was out of their control. Many of the books lost were our most popular titles; Harry Potter, The Lightning Thief and The Maze Runner. To add to the loss, our school budget this year was dramatically cut with no monies to replace these books. Replacement of these books is necessary as many of our students love to read and are required to have a fiction book for silent sustained reading in their classes. I encourage and promote literacy through reading for fun and strive to have the titles our students want to read.
