As I thought about this new way our students are going to attend school I knew I had to find activities that would be fun and engaging on an individual basis. I have taught kindergarten and first grade for 17 years and have paid attention to the activities they go back to over and over. My students loved the sequence number puzzles last year. I tried to put them away once and had to bring them back out because they kept asking for them. I only had puzzles up to 20. Adding the new ones will be so exciting. Each math activity was chosen with my five and six year olds needs and creativity in mind. This is the first year that each of my students will have their own iPad to use at school and at home. The headphones I chose will allow the students access online books and assignments in the classroom or at home without disrupting others. The microphone will allow them to read and record their own voices for me to evaluate their progress. I also teach my students how to create digital portfolios of their work. They can take pictures or videos of their activity and voice record their own explanation of their learning. This allows me to understand their way of thinking and provide feedback. This is such a different year for teachers and students. I want my students to enjoy coming to school. It will be a challenge to keep them six feet apart, but we will do our best to keep each other safe and healthy. Thank you for supporting the teachers, students, and education system.
