Our 5th grade classroom is our community. Here is where we learn, laugh, debate and grow! Harry Potter details can be found throughout as well as references to our current obsessions (like the small Nessie decal by our sink because we studied the creature of the Loch this year). Our main focal point is our library, large and full of books that we hope to keep expanding and replenishing. Even though I teach all subjects, fiction and nonfiction texts find there way into every lesson, morning meeting or random discussion. My students see that books can open doors and that no one is ever too old to connect, learn and research. The best compliment I can ever receive as a teacher is when a parent tells me their child became a reader in 5th grade! Our class is a community, a community of Historians, Scientists, Wizards...and we are always reading something!
