Why LEGOs in a fourth grade classroom? Because my students deserve the chance to explore and grow their minds despite having to maintain physical distance. Each year, I try my best to give my students an exciting opportunity to learn in a new way. This year, I have 7 (planning on 8) students in person and several learning from home. So much has to be done on computers to prepare for the possibility of remote learning that I am worried about my students' fine motor skills. I have given them play doh to explore and create with; we sculpt throughout read alouds as one fun classroom activity. Something I would really love to implement in my classroom is the use of LEGOs. If I had a LEGO kit for each student, I would be able to have them create for every single class. I am hoping to obtain 8 basic LEGO sets to use throughout this school year. They can be sanitized and used over and over.
