Having standing desks would enhance my sixth-grade students' ability to pay attention. Research has shown that giving students opportunities to learn in various standing and sitting positions helps them concentrate on the lesson which, in turn, helps them retain information thus performing better on homework and tests. Rowdy sixth graders need time to stand up and stretch their legs. Especially now with COVID-19, our students are limited to times they can move around and stand up. If I had stand-up desks this would give my students the opportunity to stretch safely while still learning.
