In today's society, students struggle seeing themselves in popular children's books in most libraries and/or classrooms. Help me as an educator give my students the opportunity to read about characters they can relate to. All of the books requested are diverse and have characters of many different races and cultures. These books will be used virtually as read alouds for learning many reading skills and in the classroom used for students to choose books during independent reading. With everything going on currently in the world, it is vital that as a teacher we talk about diversity and what it means in the classroom.I hope to make all my students feel welcome and represented in the classroom.
