As a kindergarten teacher, I am not only responsible for teaching content but also setting the foundation for my students’ educational careers. It is just as important for my students to know HOW to be a good student as it is for them to know their letters and numbers. Teaching my students personal responsibility is a huge part of my beliefs as a teacher. If my students understand the importance of taking ownership in their learning, I believe it will help them thrive throughout their years in school. By giving my students their own personal seat storage bags to hang on their chairs, they will have a central location to keep the materials that will not only help them stay organized but also encourage them to be responsible for taking care of their school supplies.
