I teach 7th grade math to approximately 60 English Language Learners, Exceptional Children, and General Education students on the West side of Charlotte. My students were not used to many of the aspects of remote learning, and are the most successful during in-person interactions and healthy relationships. We will not lose hope during this pandemic, but instead adjust our learning environment to participate daily in live Zoom sessions. During our daily Zoom sessions, my students will use dry erase boards to actively participate and maintain a good study pace for math lessons, games, and Social Emotional Learning activities. The flex seating will be used as incentives just as it would during synchronous learning. The reading material will be used to help students make real-world connections with math in their own community.
