Students will engage in rich and meaningful texts that depict people of multiple ethnicities, cultures and backgrounds. They will have the opportunity to find similarities and differences between themselves and the characters in our literature. This will also lead students to making connections with fellow classmates. Students will use art to express the way that they view themselves. Each student will receive a multitude of people colored crayons to create their portrait. They will use these self portraits to tell stories about their lives. These portraits will be a great tool to help students interact with each other in our video calls, especially those who may be camera shy.
