During the fourth quarter of the school year, students will be studying and researching seminal U. S. and World documents through literature to help learn their English standards. To assist them with this task, I have created a wonderful lesson through the use of book clubs. I have chosen 12 books for my students to be able to decide on their reading pleasure - they will be broken into groups of 3-5 in each class period (I have five class periods of Juniors). We will read our assigned novels (all biographies and autobiographies) throughout the nine weeks and each group will come together and analyze and evaluate the novels together during class - as well as they will be assigned to discussion threads where they will collaborate with the other students in my other class periods. We are very limited with which books are available in our bookstore - and I am looking for various ways to get these books donated (whether it's a plea across Facebook to family and friends) or trying to purchase them myself.
