The students in my classes are learning more about mindfulness and how to mentally take care of themselves in order to navigate the stresses that we all share in dealing with this pandemic. Mindful movement is exercise involving mental focus that trains your body to move optimally through both athletic activities and everyday life. As we start the year with virtual learning and phase into a modified, in person mode of learning, my goal is to reduce student exposure to Covid by keeping them in their classrooms. Then by equipping each classroom with yoga mats, I can teach mindful movement and yoga in each classroom. It will also give teachers an opportunity to include and lead mindful movement sessions on their own with their students.
