A good percentage of the students that I teach are English Language Learners, as our city borders Mexico. Not only do these students, but ALL students benefit from speaking and listening. Unfortunately, our world is facing a global pandemic that has now also interfered with our students' education. By providing students with a program that encourages listening, reading, comprehension, and higher-ordering thinking all available online will help my students develop their language and thinking skills as they work from home. This project is something I hope to continue even after the pandemic subsides as the benefits for learning through this project go beyond my English classroom. Listenwise gives access to real world events in a clear, concise manner and allows kids to process the information in an user-friendly, engaging way! It allow them to make connections to other content areas, such as history, science, and math.

About my class
