Now, more than ever, my first grade little sponges need to have great lessons about seeing and loving the differences they have with one another. That is the driving inspiration behind this project. I want my students to learn that our differences are what make us special and that diversity is something to love. With the books listed in this project, it is my hope that my students can see characters who not only look different than them but have different experiences, different families, and different cultures than what we might usually have in our classroom. As my students absorb their days with me, it is my goal that they are absorbing images and stories that celebrate our differences that make each of us ALL amazing!

About my class
