My classroom is full of 7 and 8-year-olds who love have an abundance of energy and move frequently. While I encourage movement around the room there are times when students must be seated to listen to instruction or complete assignments. Giving students flexible seating options will allow them an alternative to regular classroom chairs. This will be extremely beneficial to those students that find it difficult to work in a hard chair. It also gives students a "choice" in our classroom. They are learning to make good choices about where they sit, they are more engaged and less disruptive. It also lowers the chance they might topple out of their regular chair! I would absolutely LOVE for my classroom to be full of ball chairs, wobble stools, and more flexible seating options by the start of this school year! With your help, I can make my dream come true!
